The Lady G Born This Way Monsters Ball Experience

So I've finally decided not to go all out Gaga costume. Before this post, I told you the story on how I got the tickets and my preps for the big day. After much consideration, I went on with this outfit

I remembered the lady orders everyone to just be themselves. She's an inspiration because she celebrates being U-N-I-Q-U-E, being just the person you are and standing up for it with full confidence. She has that I don't give a f*ck attitude and that's cool to me.

So I stayed true to what I would normally wear.. just added a dash of Gaga here and there.. Its basically my top who had it already..

drapes added some flavor and unevenness..
padded shoulder added some architecture
sequins on the shoulder added some bling.

I am a necklace girl so I used my Black Metal Chain Necklace from Rubi
Black Strapped Platforms heels from Charles and Keith added some more fierceness..

So there goes my Gaga Look Checklist! Yet the style is still very much ME!

Since Bro1 came from the office, he had to bring his White Aviators and Fully Sequined Cowboy Hat. He also brought a spare which is his White Fedora and plain eyeglasses. I decided to wear it just for the photo :) We took this shot before the show. Weee! its my first time to wear fedora and eyeglasses. Feeling ko di ko bagay ang geeky look..

I wasn't able to take a lot of photos during the show coz I wanted to enjoy the experience. She started off the show saying "Be good to the person, beside you or behind you even if you don't know each other, they might change your life"

I feel like the production numbers and her costumes were very much the same as in the Phils anyway. I only took a video of Bad Romance, Born This Way and Alejandro.

It was a 2-hr and 30-minute show and most of the songs were from the "Born This Way" album.. but she still sang all of her hits. Aside from the above, let me recall other songs: Just Dance, Poker Face, Telephone, You and I, the controversial Judas, Edge of Glory and Marry the Night.

My favorite production number was when she appeared like floating in a long white gown. There's a creepy cool thing about it.

The most inspirational number is from the photo above while playing the song "Hair" in her motorcycle piano. She told people about how she was treated by the kids in school when she was in high school and how she used to be a loser. Amongst all her inspirational adlib and dialogue, this one struck the most which I want to share as well:

"You have something very special inside of you to give"

That's it, every second, every penny is worth it. It is the best concert I've ever seen. She gave all out performances for 2.5 hours non-stop. Extravagant production numbers, costumes, dance moves and her very powerful voice. She's a real talent and music icon. I feel so honored to have the chance to see her perform live :)

Pre-Born This Way Ball: How to Gaga-fy Myself

Born this Way Ball

After gracing the Philippine shores, she’s now in Singapore to belt out her extremely captivating tunes! She will be performing for three nights (May 28, 29 and 31) at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

I remember how it broke my heart when I first saw the Lady Gaga Concert billboard in Nichols, I knew there’s no reason to anticipate coz I wouldn’t be able to watch it, I’m in SG by then. It would be so impossible to watch her in SG coz I won’t be able to afford it. I settled myself into watching Channel V’s Born This Way Day (#btwday) on Channel V and danced in my condo like nobody cares.

All thanks to Bro1 who’s also a huge Gaga fan, we were very lucky to book the last two tickets to Lady Gaga’s first night in

Singapore

. Dream come true!

In my opinion, the controversy made Lady Gaga Concert: More Fun in the Philippines. Yet even without controversy, I know her over-the-top performances and engaging tunes will let us have fun just the same in Singapore.

I am a self-confessed little monster. And by now, at 4AM, I’m all hyped up and thinking what to wear to this once-in-a-lifetime experience. I know for sure it won’t be a complete experience without some bit of Lady Gaga-ish style. It won’t just be a concert its also a costume party - an opportunity to go beyond my everyday look or usual office and party dress, bend fashion rules and just go as creative as I want. so its gonna be Lady Gaga Plus Size Edition haha..

Clothes

I know I can’t go all the way since I’ll be commuting. But Gaga never dresses down. Her staples include skin-tight leather, metal studs, feathers, hair, sequins, geometric patterns, Origami-inspired silhouettes, clashing colours, animal prints, big shoulders, capes and futuristic details. Eclectic perhaps. Too bad I don’t have all my clothes with me. I know the brown fully sequined dress from Mango which I left in PH is well-suited and soooo waiting to be worn on this occasion. However I have to settle with everything I packed in my travelling bag.

Embellished and metallic boots and geometrically challenging platforms are her signature yet I’ll probably be standing or dancing all night so it seems wise to opt for something less excessive. Flats are not an option though, since again, dressed down is just not something Lady Gaga does.

Hair

Lady Gaga experiments wildly with her hairstyles. With my short hair, there’s really nothing much I can do. I might find myself some props and weird pins. Or the best go to would be wigs and weird hats J

Makeup and Accessories

My inner Lady Gaga calls for a bitchy, smokey drama. Heavy eye makeup, black or super red lips?Tattoos are optional. I might go all out on metal necklaces and bracelets to make up for the lack of complexity in the hair department and lack of options in the clothing department.

Hmm… so now... how over-the-top can I go? What would I Dare to Wear?

MULTIPLE ENTRY - Feeling Chinese in Singapore (Haw Par Villa)

Brown Multi-way Dress

Had a hard time naming this article.. It's literally Multiple Entry 1st because of the outfit post which is a Multi-way dress and 2nd because my real topic is Haw Par Villa and 3rd because it was an activity-filled day - meeting, strolling at the park, malling, and movie night-out.

What I Wore: Brown Multi-way Dress (Get Laud), Animal Print Foldable Flats (Frolic)

Meeting: Dress worn with Animal Skinned Platforms and Tan Blazer, Stud Earring (no photo)

This dress is among my favorites. I would nominate this as the Ultimate Wardrobe Must-have. Looking for the perfect LBD? This has got to be it. For only Php 650, it can be worn in different ways and in different occasions. The material allows the dress to flow freely and hugs the body just right. I have a love affair with multi-way pieces of clothing, if it can be worn in different ways, trust that I will immediately grab it ;)

Since I have someone to meet in the afternoon, I had to look meeting-appropriate so I had to style my dress in the simplest way possible and the neckline had to look conservative even under my tan blazer (not in the photo)

See the limitless possibilities! From morning to night! As a dress or as a skirt. Flat Hem or Mullet Hem. From casual to formal :)

My meeting was just 3 bus stops away from Haw Par Villa so I brought a camera and took my chance to visit the place.

They used to call Haw Par Villa as the Tiger Balm Gardens simply because the initial owners were the makers of the Tiger Balm Ointment :) They then donated the property to the Singapore government for conservation and maintenance. Thanks to the recently-opened Circle Line MRT, getting to this place is easier, this park is right at the exit of the Haw Par Villa MRT Station. The place is interesting if you want to know more about Chinese culture and their beliefs. As they say, most of the 1,000+ statues inside depicts Chinese mythology. Its also a good place to visit for photo enthusiasts since the arcs, statues and the pagodas are really colorful. The place doesn't have that much visitor anymore, though. I only encountered about 6-10 tourist groups. Maybe because Singapore is a very modern country and Haw Par is far from the CBD.

Haw Par Villa is also known for its Ten Courts of Hell! From the entrance on the top left photo, its noticeable that its very dark inside. My camera's flash is broken so I wasn't able to take much photos. Its also kinda creepy and disturbing, maybe because they want the visitors to imagine what hell would look and feel like. I am just so lucky that a group of Chinese teens were with me when I entered.

It is believed that for every kind of sin, affliction or wrongdoings, there will be a specific punishment held in a specific court. In the First Court of Hell, the virtuous are led over a golden bridge to paradise. The silver bridge to paradise is for those whose good deeds during their life outweighed the bad. The sinner will go through nine courts before judgment is finally reached. In each of the nine courts, he is punished for the particular sin that he has committed. The Tenth Court is more on the belief of Reincarnation.

The statues inside are much like what we see in movies such as Saw, Final Destination and the like (I hate gross movies by the way)

Moving on to Good Vibes and promises of Luck, Happiness, Prosperity and Longevity!

I met a Malaysian guy near the Buddha statue and he told me that many visitors come and touch the belly since it is believed to bring in Good Fortune! :) So I went up and touched its belly as he suggested :) He was also the guy who took my photos :)

Few stairs down and you'll meet Fu Lu Shou and beside them is the Bell. Touch the Statues, Make a Wish and Ring the Bell Once to achieve each God's promise. I am a Catholic but there's no harm in wishing and believing so I made wishes my wishes anyway.

Overall, I had a great time taking photos and learning the culture of the country I am in. It's also wonderful as well to meet few people when you're on the road alone :) Would've been a better day if I had company or at least a tripod...
